3rd Session of the PhD Thesis Committee of the Doctoral School of PAID’s University of Applied Sciences for Development

1 After publishing a road map document titled ‘Implementation of Doctoral Studies in Applied Development Sciences,’ Prof. Emmanuel KAMDEM, the Secretary General of the International Association, Pan African Institute for Development (PAID) launched the 3rd session of the thesis committee of the Doctoral School. The occasion was graced with the presence of the President of Governing Council of PAID, Dr Theresa Elad and saw the participation of over sixty seven PhD candidates.

The Director of the Doctoral School, Prof. Roger Monduoe emphasized the importance of the evaluation process of the work done so far by the candidates of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd promotions of the PhD programme. The session drew experts from across the world with over thirty five (35) renowned Professors from four continents that included Africa, Asia, and the US, Far east and Western Europe.

PrmondoueThe objective of the PhD thesis committee was to evaluate the work done by the candidates by a committee of experts (usually five or more experts of Professorial rank). The aim is to foster PAID’s vision to equip and encourage the candidates to complete their studies and be able to make a successful transition from their doctoral studies to their future careers.

In another dimension, PAID used the opportunity to provide advice, support and access o other resources that will allow the candidates enough support systems apart from supervision to grow in research and publication. PAID undertakes such exercise through academic diplomacy, that is cooperation and partnership agreements with foreign Universities and international organizations. In this occasion, Prof. JIANG Yujiao, the Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Yaoundé II SOA and the United Nations University for Peace in Addis Ababa.

In the course of the evaluation process, the over sixty seven PhD candidates were divided into four supervisory groups (4 sub juries) according to the area of research interest and expertise.
